Steven S. Duke is managing director of training with the Media Management Center and the Readership Institute and an associate professor at the Medill School. He designs and teaches in training seminars for newspapers, newspaper groups, press associations, and the Center's on-campus programs.
Prior to joining the Center in 1999, Duke was a journalist for 26 years at newspapers and magazines. He was editor of Digital Chicago magazine, deputy managing editor of the Chicago Sun-Times, and served in various editorial capacities at the Chicago Daily News, Sacramento Bee, Cincinnati Enquirer, and at a chain of suburban weeklies.
He was a member of the executive committee of the Illinois Associated Press for five years, and has served as an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University's Medill School.
Duke has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Medill and is a graduate of the Media Management Center's Advanced Executive Program.
