Dipak C. Jain
is dean of the Kellogg School of Management and the Sandy and Morton
Goldman Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies and professor of marketing.
Jain has taught
courses in strategic marketing research, new products and services
and quantitative marketing models. His research areas include marketing
of high-tech products, market segmentation and competitive market
structure analysis and new product diffusion and forecasting models.
He has been recognized for his outstanding teaching, both at Northwestern
and as a visiting professor at the Koblenz Business School in Germany
and Nijenrode University in The Netherlands.
In addition
to his teaching at Kellogg, he has served as a visiting professor
at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Nijenrode University, Koblenz,
IIT Delhi, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Tel
Aviv University. Jain has been instrumental in the development of
the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India. He, along with
his predecessor, Donald Jacobs, has been involved in all academic
aspects of the school since the very first day the idea for it was
conceived by Rajat Gupta, managing director of McKinsey & Co.
He currently
is researching cross-cultural global product diffusion, marketing
of high-tech products, new product forecasting models and market
segmentation and positioning.
Jain received
his undergraduate and master's degrees in statistics from Gauhati
University in India. He then earned an M.S. in operations research
and a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Texas at Dallas
before joining the Kellogg faculty.
