Bala Balachandran joined
the Kellogg School of Management in 1973. He teaches financial
accounting at the Center.
Balachandran is one of three Kellogg
faculty members who started the Information Resource Management
Program (IRM) at Northwestern in 1974. Balachandran's research deals
with performance evaluation, cost management, audit planning, allocation
models, and forecasting. His work has earned numerous scholastic
honors, awards, and fellowships, and he serves as a consultant to
several major corporations, as well as to the U.S. Air Force, in
the areas of accounting, forecasting and strategic decision support
systems.
Balachandran received his
B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Statistics in1959; his M.A. in
1961; his M.Sc. in Applied Statistics in 1963 at Annamalai University;
his M.S.E. in Engineering in 1969 at the University of Dayton; his
M.S.I.A. in Business Administration in 1972; and his Ph.D. in Industrial
Administration in 1973 from Carnegie Mellon University.
